Chronic pelvic pain
This is usually any pelvic pain (hip, tailbone, pubic joint, lower back) that has lasted for longer than six months.
The problem which caused the pain originally may have gone, but the pain continues. You may experience a combination of other symptoms such as trouble sleeping or depression. The symptoms may be vague and changing.
Treatment may include breathing techniques, and a focus on movement [pattern and behaviours that may contribute to pain].
Pain in the nervous system includes the body and the mind and this concept is integrated into treatment. Often these problems have a musculo-skeletal origin and postural and movement patterns may have changed as a result. You may need some “hands on” manual therapy as well as stretches and home management strategies. You will also receive movement re-education which may target muscles you have forgotten how to use.
